Paysera resumes operation of self-service terminals: The first nine are already serving patients
In the first week since the resuming operation, patients have made more than 1,600 card or cash payments at the terminals for a total amount of 55,000 EUR.
"Several hospitals and clinics have now completed the necessary procedures, allowing their patients to use the self-service terminals for payments of various tests and services, all without the need to wait in line for the cashier. We hope that other healthcare facilities will follow suit, quickly completing the required steps to enhance customer service efficiency," says Remigijus Pranskaitis, Paysera's terminal product manager.
At the end of December 2024, Paysera acquired a total of 147 self-service terminals and their software. The financial technology company plans not only to restore the operation of these devices at their former locations, but also to install new terminals.
After restoring the network's operations in Lithuania, the company plans to expand the terminal business abroad – first in the countries where Paysera group companies operate: Latvia, Estonia, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, and others.
An estimated 80% of the terminals were previously in use at healthcare facilities before being shut down, making them accessible to people of all ages. These self-service terminals help reduce checkout queues, allowing staff to dedicate more time to direct patient care.
Expansion in physical commerce
Paysera, whose core business in the Baltics is payment processing in e-commerce, has recently strengthened its position in the physical payments market. In addition to the acquired terminals, in spring 2024 the company acquired a virtual cash register developed by Brand Lions MB to accept payments, transmit receipt data to the State Tax Inspectorate, and keep track of stock balances.
